Recently, someone posed the question to a few Station 33 members as to why our new Engine shirts now depict a skull and cross bones, and many noticed that while marching in the 100th anniversary parade, we carried a skull and cross bones flag that is now proudly flying from Engine 33.
For many years the US Navy has flown a skull and cross bone flag while crossing the equator, to signify that "King Neptune" is on board. It is only fitting that Engine 33 fly a skull and cross bone while responding to a call, to show that we also have "King Neptune" on board. The flag also can signify the "toughness" and "ferociousness" of pirates.
